Lecturer (Centre for Pre-University Studies)


 
Responsible for teaching Pre-University Arts and Business modules to students at IMU. Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, tutorials, problem-solving learning, fieldwork, e-learning and tablets / iPad for teaching and learning purposes. Encouraged to pursue own areas of research and develop these in order to contribute to the broader research activities of the department. Involved in academic management work as and when required by the Director of the Centre of Pre-University Studies in conjunction with the Programme Director. This includes coordination work, e.g., module coordinator etc. and will also have a pastoral role to mentor and guide students.
  • To develop and implement new methods of teaching to reflect changes in research
  • To design, prepare and develop teaching materials
  • To deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials
  • To assess students' coursework and assignments
  • To set and mark examinations
  • To invigilate examinations
  • To coordinate modules
  • To support students through a pastoral/advisory role
  • Where applicable, to contribute to relevant research projects and actively contribute to the institution's research profile
  • To undertake continuous professional development (CPD) and participate in staff training activities
  • To undertake administrative tasks related to the department, such as student admissions, act as module coordinator, semester coordinator, induction programmes and involvement in committees and boards, and university projects
  • To represent the IMU at internal and external marketing events and relevant professional conferences, events and seminars, and contributing to these as necessary
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Director, Deputy Director or Management

Requirements:

Business and Management

  • Qualification in Business, Finance and Economics
  • Possess minimum Bachelor's degree holder
  • Master's degree (will be an added advantage)
  • Fresh graduates or candidates with teaching experience are welcome to apply
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong command of written and spoken English

English and Communication

  • Qualification in Language, Communication and World Culture
  • Possess minimum Bachelor's degree holder
